What happened?
This week marks the second month since the fighting for Bakhmut escalated. Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar said, that no one believed that in the conditions of such intense enemy attacks, the city could be held for more than a week, two at most. She also named the commanders who head the defense of Bakhmut:
- The head of Bakhmut defense, Brigadier General Andrii Hnatov;
- The head of the defense of the Eastern Front, whose area of responsibility includes Bakhmut, the commander of the Khortytsia Air Defense Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi;
- Part of the eastern front is managed by the commander of the “Tavria” OSU, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi;
- Defending directly in Bakhmut, the 93rd brigade brigade commander Colonel Pavlo Polisa and the 3rd National Guard brigade brigade commander Colonel Oleksandr Pivnenko.
Bakhmut update
Currently, russian invaders storm Bakhmut and Avdiivka, trying to surround the cities. On the 20th of March the Ukraine repelled more than 120 attacks in Donbas per day. This was reported in the summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Reported that russians continue to advance in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions. On the Kupyansk-Lymansk area, the Russian Federation unsuccessfully attacked in the direction of Novoselyvskyi.
As the russian army does not stop storming Bakhmut, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fought back in the Bohdanivka, Ivanovsky, Predtechny, and Severnoy districts. The Russians also unsuccessfully tried to advance in the Berdychiv, Avdiyivka, Severnoy, Pervomaisky, and Novomykhailivka directions.
The Ukrainian aviation made 12 strikes on areas of concentration of personnel and equipment. The missile forces and artillery hit three areas of concentration of infantry.
