Russian Volunteer Corps Took Responsibility for Crossing The Border in Bryansk Region

What happened?

Today, Russian propaganda media spread information about the alleged “breakthrough” of the Ukrainian sabotage and intelligence group in the Bryansk region. Propaganda messages are contrary to each other. They claimed that in the near future, Putin will hold an emergency meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. However, the speaker Peskov denied this information.

Later today

Russian Volunteer Corps took responsibility for the events in the Bryansk region. “The Russian Volunteer Corps came to the Bryansk region to show compatriots that there is hope, that free Russian people with weapons in their hands can fight the regime,” the message on the corps’ telegram channel says.

Ukrainian officials' response

The story of the Ukrainian sabotage group in the Russian Federation is a classic provocation. Absolutely conscious. Guerrillas…

The armed forces general staff and advisor to the presidential office Mikhail Podolyak called it the Kremlin’s provocation. However, Ukrainian intelligence service called the event:

Russia’s transformation, purification, and release from Putin’s dictatorship.

Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK ; Russkiy dobrovol’cheskiy korpus) is a unit of the territorial defense of Ukraine formed in August 2022 from Russian right-wing volunteers who have been fighting for Ukraine since 2014. According to the NYT, the RDC includes Russian, Chechen, Buryat and other national groups, presented in Russia. DW reports that the RDK was formed in August 2022 and could perform company-level tasks.

Updated

“Vazhnye istorii” reported that RDK fighter confirmed to them that the RDK entered the territory of the Bryansk region. This is what he reported, asking to remain anonymous:

I’m just from over there (ed.- operation in Bryansk). There were 45 of us on this mission. Went in, filmed, and ambushed two BMPs. I haven’t see any injured children. But there was one injured border guard. No hostages were taken.
